Labor Day Weekend
I love Holidays…One can sleep in…One can sit and read a book…One can do whatever brings him or her pleasure.
Next weekend is Labor Day…The first Labor Day March was held in 1882 for the working man in New York City…Workers were putting in 12 hour working shifts for 6 or 7 days a week. The first Monday of September was recommended since it was roughly halfway between July 4 and Thanksgiving.
On June 28, 1894, President Grover Cleveland signed a Bill making Labor Day a National Public Holiday. So, during this next week, try to dream up ways to make Labor Day special. Perhaps, you will say an extra prayer for God to protect all workers/laborers from dangerous tasks. Maybe, you will have a family picnic or outing.
Donate Food
St. Paul Lutheran Hunger Warriors still need Food Donations throughout the summer months; so, let us all try to bring one or two food items when we are able to attend Church this summer: peanut butter, GRAPE JAM, Stew, Corned Beef, WIDE NOODLES, tissues, toilet paper, paper towels, canned vegetables, CANNED SLICED PEACHES, CEREAL, oatmeal variety packs, SPAM, canned Chicken Breast, RAMEN NOODLES, snacks for children. We need the above food items by Thursday, June 20, for the Immanuel Hunger Program Delivery. Bless you for putting the needs of others as a priority.

Community of Goodness
Mary and Chico are going to work on finding a few new Community Of Goodness -COG – members to bring in 6 items – like Grape Jam, Peanut Butter, Corned Beef, canned vegetables, Variety Packs of Oatmeal, Stew, Cookies – each month.
These donations really help gather what we need for the Scranton Road Immanuel Lutheran Hunger & Crisis Food Program each month.
Let Mary know if you can help supply any of the above items…Thank You!
