An Easter Message from Mary

On that first Easter, Matthew 28: 2-7 (NIV) shares 2 “There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4 The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. 5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; He has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell His disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see Him.’ Now I have told you.”

What great news to all who love Jesus as their Savior…At Jesus’ Birth, angels shared the great news with the shepherds. In Luke 2:10-15 (GW), 10 “The angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid! I have good news for you, a message that will fill everyone with joy. 11 Today your Savior, Christ the Lord, was born in David’s city. 12 This is how you will recognize him: You will find an infant wrapped in strips of cloth and lying in a manger.”13 Suddenly, a large army of angels appeared with the angel. They were praising God by saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those who have his good will!” 15 The angels left them and went back to heaven. The shepherds said to each other, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see what the Lord has told us about.”

At Jesus’ Baptism, God shared great news in Matthew 3:16-17 (NIV), 16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on Him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased.”

On the day Jesus died in Matthew 27:45 (NIV), 45 “From noon until three in the afternoon darkness came over all the land.” In addition, when Jesus died at 3 pm, all of nature went into climatic shock according to Matthew 27:51-53 (NIV), 51 “At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split 52 and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. 53 They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people.”

All the above explains to me in simple terms that Jesus was different. He was doing His Father’s will at all times. Therefore, no matter how challenged one’s day is going from the fifthly cafeteria floor to the entire counter-filled kitchen to a flat tire on the way home by hitting a curb when I chose to recycle after setting up Easter Breakfast to a fifth grader who has no idea that Easter is celebrating Jesus Is Risen, ONE TRUTH REMAINS – JESUS IS RISEN, INDEED – ALLELUIA!
