Yes, the Special Sunday – February 11 – Valentine Bake Sale did happen in the cafeteria at St, Paul Lutheran Church and raised over $600 for SPL Hunger Warriors/Hunger Ministry/Mary’s Food Friends. We also had free heart gummies and animal magnets. It was wonderful seeing St. Paul Lutheran’s front sign-board sharing the good news of a Valentine Bake Sale.

Valentines Epiphany Gifts

This week has been full of sending out Valentines and working on Epiphany gifts for next year. The Westlake Marc’s has an excellent assortment of puzzles for 2+ priced at $1.99 or $2.99 in Closeouts. Games galore are also found in Closeouts. At $1.99, one can find the laugh out loud matching game, FIND-A-SAURUS for 2 to 4 players at age 6+. For $2.99, one can find GRAB & GO MONOPOLY for 2 to 4 players at age 8+, MONOPOLY: RIVALS EDITION for 2 players at age 8+, CINKO LINKO for 2 to 3 players at age 8+, and RAYA’S JOURNEY: AN ENCHANTED FOREST GAME for 2 to 4 players at age 6+. Bargains equal to Ollie’s do exist…Blessings as you shop ahead…Marc’s Closeouts have super towel prices too…Many of Redeemer’s clients do not have washers and dryers, so a new towel set each year comes in handy. Whatever you can do to help others is deeply appreciated

Annual Hunger Walk & 5k Run

This years’ 36th Annual Hunger Walk & 5K Run for Hunger Network with presenting sponsor Mary Cares Much will be held on Saturday, June 1, at the Clevland Metroparks Zoo, 3900 Wildlife Way. The Hunger Warriors Team over the last 29 years has been called AAL Team, AAL/LB Team, Thrivent Team, and Lutherans Against Hunger. I have had the honor of being the Team Captain in charge of getting the message out for the last 16 years. The Hunger Walk & 5K Run supports the summer work of Hunger Network which has 70 + Food Pantries and hot meal sites along with its dynamic Food Rescue Program.

The Hunger Walk & 5K Run raises awareness about hunger and funds to support Hunger Network’s mission to feed our communities’ future. Last year, through your donations, supporters raised over $100,000 to provide healthy meals to our neighbors in need across Cuyahoga County during the summer months! Each $1 donated provides 3 meals. In recent years, Hunger Network has seen an increased need for emergency food assistance due to COVID-19 and inflation — especially for children and families. Your gift will ensure that 1 in 5 Clevelanders facing hunger have access to fresh, healthy food.

Additional sponsors at the Pearl level include Mike & Mary Boost and Giant Eagle; Gold level is the First Baptist Church of Cleveland, and Silver level include St. Paul Lutheran Church of Westlake, Jack and Susan Webb, and Pease Bell CPAs.

This year’s Walk for Hunger & 5K Run will be at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Check-in begins at 7:30 AM; 5K Chip-timed Run begins at 8:30 AM, and the Walk begins at 9:00 AM. A donation of $10 registers one for the Walk and a donation of $35 registers one for a Walk and a T-shirt while $40 for the chip-timed Run and a T-shirt.
