Thankfulness

As we greet each other, may we share the joy of Colossians 2:6-7 (NIV): “6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” All that SPL Hunger Warriors do is total Thankfulness for God’s Great Goodness in sending His Son Jesus to suffer, die, and save each of us to be with Him for all eternity.

Pioneer Freedge Neighborhood Food Program

Mary and Chico have learned of a fantastic South Elyria Community Food Outreach – The Pioneer Freedge Neighborhood Food Program – located in the South Branch of the Elyria Public Library at 340 15th Street in Elyria, Ohio. According to Julie Piazza-King, Pioneer Freedge Overseer, “We can always use donations of food as well as monetary donations. Small donations of non-perishable food or items that need to be refrigerated can be taken directly to the Freedge.” Community Freedges appeared in Europe starting in 2016 with the Pioneer Freedge becoming the first of its kind in this area. Vermilion Co-owner and Manager of Fifth Acres Farms, Rachel Gonzales, provides produce for Pioneer Freedge. Anyone can drop-off or take a bag of food for his or her family six days a week during normal library hours.

Blessing Bag

One could also create HOMELESS BLESSING BAGS with soup, sweet treats, snacks, tuna package, raisins, fruit cup with spoon, granola bars, small bottled water, nuts, small amount of cash or coins, and a brief note – “This is for you. We hope these items help in some small way. Jesus loves you!” – or in Spanish – “Esto es para ti. Esperamos que estos artículos ayuden de alguna manera. ¡Jesús te ama!”

November Action Team Drives

The Thrivent Action Team Underwear and Sock Donation Drive for Redeemer Hunger & Crisis Center ends the first week in December. Keep watching for closeouts and sales.
