SPL Hunger Warriors Update

SPL Hunger Warriors is so grateful for all the support of our projects and the 24 hunger programs that we helped in 2023. St. Paul members are maximizing HOPE – Helping Other People Everywhere. St. Paul Members are also making a Vital Difference by becoming active members of COG – Community of Goodness – by donating SIX or more cans of vegetables, stew, SPAM, corned beef, peach slices, chicken breasts, jars of peanut butter, Grape Jam/jelly, wide noodles, cereal monthly for Immanuel Lutheran Church’s Neighborhood Food Program.

The Action Team Event for North Ridgeville Community Care

The Action Team Event for North Ridgeville Community Care at 34015 Center Ridge Road in North Ridgeville, Ohio delivered 297 items of toilet paper, tissues, paper towels, fruit, soup, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, and grape jam to share with people in need. The St. Paul Lutheran Church members were inspired to live generously by sharing shopping talents to purchase essential items that were needed to meet needs of people in our neighboring community of North Ridgeville. The gratitude of the staff and volunteers at North Ridgeville Community Care deeply touched the hearts of our volunteers.

The Action Team Event for Our Family Home Center

The Action Team Event for Our Family Home Center at 15457 Euclid Avenue in East Cleveland gives out snack bags to 75 children and 25+ Senior families with children. Therefore, 1305 items of snacks, chips, applesauce, Jell-o, pudding, crackers, candy, and cookies were gathered to share with the children, families, and Seniors it serves.

Our Last Thrivent Event of 2023

Our last SPL Hunger Warriors Thrivent Action Team Event for 2023 – Peanut Butter & Jam Drive – to benefit Redeemer Hunger & Crisis Center on West 30th Street in Cleveland gathered 120 jars of jam and 100 jars of Peanut Butter.

In Addition

On Wednesday, December 27, The Wrap-up Needs Thrivent Action Team packed 300 shoe boxes for our January 5, 2024 Epiphany Party at the Redeemer Hunger & Crisis Center at 2970 West 30th Street in Cleveland, Ohio, for children from birth to age 15. Due to the efficient set-up on Tuesday, December 26, the fantastic packers, St. Paul members and Westlake- Bay Village Rotary Members, were able to pack 300 Rotary Shoe Boxes in 3.5 hours which would be delivered on January 4, 2024 and given out on Friday, January 5, by the Three Wise Men in celebration of Epiphany. In addition, the Action Team used the Action Team Card to purchase wrap-up needed supplies for packing the toys with shoe boxes and the Snowman Soup supplies needed to wrap up the Veteran Christmas Card delivery on December 21-22.

We are asking St. Paul members and friends to help us kick start our 2025 Epiphany Party to be held next January to look for SALES on a towel set – Bath, Face, Wash Cloth – and blankies during the months of January and February…This Party is a cultural event where we assist families to celebrate Epiphany Puerto Rican customs of putting a shoe box outside the door or under the bed along with a little straw for the Wise Men’s camels to receive gifts from the Wise Men just like baby Jesus received gifts. Whenever you see items – like puzzles, games, toys, stuffed animals – on SALE consider shopping for this Epiphany Party and put on the Hunger Ministry shelves. Also, members could do their spring cleaning and donate books, toys, stuffed animals. puzzles, games in good condition to SPL Hunger Warriors. In this way, members are celebrating Jesus all year. Bless you for helping us.
