Weekly Update from Mary

Madison Commons Group Home
In this week’s SPL Hunger Warriors Update, we are thanking all people for the positive response to our request for snacks for the Madison Commons Group Home at 8001 Madison Avenue in Cleveland. We could still use donations of shampoo, deodorant, apples, cracker packs, chips & pretzel snack bags, granola bars, and Christian literature.
10 Food Items Pick Up
The collection of ten food items for Immanuel Lutheran on Scranton Road in Cleveland has been moved up a week. The 24 requested bags of wide noodles, boxes of cereal, cans of stew, SPAM, vegetables, peanut butter, chicken breast, peaches, corned beef, and jars of grape jam are needed by Thursday night of August 14 for delivery on Friday August 15.
Sales Tax Holiday
As one enjoys the sales tax holiday from August 1 through August 14 on many items needed for school, consider purchasing underwear or socks for St. Paul Lutheran’s 12th Annual Underwear & Sock Drive for Cleveland’s Redeemer Hunger & Crisis Center on W. 30th Street. Help in the SPIRIT of Anita Fjeldstad and Eunice Langner fill the Hunger Warriors’ Underwear and Sock Containers on the Hunger Shelving outside our worship areas. The members and friends of St. Paul Lutheran are totally immersed in doing God’s Will by being the loving hands, feet, and heart of Jesus. One extra bag of underwear or socks will help people in need. Pray about it, and then bless others.
Cleveland Cavaliers
Last Wednesday’s Weekly e-mailed message by Pastor Smith reminded us that we can all show generosity like the Cleveland Cavaliers to assist families that are facing food insecurity as prices go up and government funding goes down. As one grows closer to Jesus, one is reminded of the song “With the Lord Thy Task Begin” written by Christoph Christian Hohlfedt and translated by Herman H. Brueckner.
Tasks
With the Lord thy task begin: Childlike faith in Him possessing, Prospered only by His blessing, Fight all sinful pride within: With the Lord thy task begin, With the Lord thy task begin.
With the Lord thy task begin: Choosing Him to rule and guide thee; Whether good or ill betide thee, Thou art sure thy goal to win: With the Lord thy task begin, With the Lord thy task begin.
With the Lord thy task begin: Courage He, thy Helper, lendeth; Well the earthly labor endeth, Wrought in God, and not in sin: With the Lord thy task begin, With the Lord thy task begin.
Donate Food
St. Paul Lutheran Hunger Warriors still need Food Donations throughout the summer months; so, let us all try to bring one or two food items when we are able to attend Church this summer: peanut butter, GRAPE JAM, Stew, Corned Beef, WIDE NOODLES, tissues, toilet paper, paper towels, canned vegetables, CANNED SLICED PEACHES, CEREAL, oatmeal variety packs, SPAM, canned Chicken Breast, RAMEN NOODLES, snacks for children. We need the above food items by Thursday, June 20, for the Immanuel Hunger Program Delivery. Bless you for putting the needs of others as a priority.
