Westlake woman dedicates her life to fighting hunger

On June 2, 2023, Amanda Merrell posted at https://www.news5cleveland.com/a-better-land/westlake-woman-dedicates-her-life-to-fighting-hunger “Westlake woman dedicates her life to fighting hunger” sharing Channel 5’s ‘A Better Land’ series investigating “Northeast Ohio’s deep-seated systemic problems. Additionally, it puts a spotlight on the community heroes fighting for positive change in Cleveland and throughout the region.”

Amanda shares that Mary’s reason for her dedication to helping 20+ Hunger programs across Northeast Ohio including Hunger Network’s Walk For Hunger & 5K Run is “Because Jesus died for us. That’s the whole key. Jesus is the key,…There’s so much need, you’ll never know. There’s just so much. That’s all we see all the time is people in need, therefore you have to meet the need.” Hunger Network’s 2023 Event Coordinator Melanie O’Donnell told Channel 5, “Some people say I wish I could help, or I’ll donate a little bit here,…But Mary dedicates her life to it. I really think it’s her life mission.”
